Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I am 17 and am moving to alabama for college would it be in my best interest to have my parent sign temporary gaurdianship over to a family member down there or to try for emancipation? So i have a gardian availiable for just in case i need medical treatment, in the case of being 12 hours from my mother.

Neither. Have your mother sign a consent to authorize medical treatment granting an adult permission to get emergency treatment for you just in case. That is much simpler and less costly than either of the alternatives you mention.
