Re: are 18 year olds legal adults while inrolled in school

A child reaching his or her 18th birthday becomes an adult and has the right to choose where he or she will reside. His parents no longer have a duty to support him if he leaves home, regardless of whether he is still in high school or not. If the parents were divorced, then one of them would file a petition to emancipate him to stop child support. No such action is necessary if the parents are still married.
