Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I am a 46 year-old male and my wife filed for divorce in May 2010. I work at a company that provides a retirement pension (not a 401k which I also have) but I have to work there until I am 58 to receive any benefits. My spouse's attorney is proposing that we determine a present value then I pay my spouse a % now. I would favor agreeing to pay in the future ONLY if I get any of the pension myself. What should I do and what % (if any) is reasonable to expect to pay?

Every case is fact specific and a pension plan benefit is only one aspect of a [property settlement. You really should speak with your own attorney about this as he or she have the most information concerning the entire situation.
