Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

A 16 yr old child mother left her with a family member three years ago and a note asking her to take care of her. The family member is n alcoholic and not capable of guardianship. The child wants to be emancipated in the state of Indiana. Can we file a petition directly to the court?

The best answer is to file a custody request so YOU can care for her until she turns 18. Yes, there are ways that a minor can be emancipated by a court before age 18, but you will need to see a lawyer. It is not done just because someone asks for it, obviously.
