Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
abandonment
met a blonde in april2002-said she has a large settlement coming from law firm in ohio-trouble with her children-she needed help always with the promise to repay when settlement arrives-she said and did all the right things-we married in oct 2002-spent a lot of $$ along the way and maxed out credit cards-i have annual statements from all bills showing spending pattern from before we met till today-came home from work jan 10 2003 my house is empty and credit cards missing-she is not on any accounts-law won't touch this because they say we were married BS!-have since found a po adrress and sent certified divorce papers-no reply so far(30 days have past). Can i put a freeze on her settlement until a judge decides what or if she owes-I am afraid she is stalling to get this $$ and then run her being on disability would weaken my attempt to sue for her 1/2 bills and more-we were married in indiana and her settlement firm is in ohio-and how do i go about putting a freeze on this-she has left me penniless, deep in debt, and inches from financial ruin(bankruptcy). thank you

Re: abandonment
Do you know where the settlement is - county, city? Or the insurance company or the name of the party from which the money is to be paid? Do you know the name of any of the attorneys involved? If you do not know any of this, then you have a major problem. If you do not know any of this information, I think you had better consider that there never was any settlement. If you do have any way of finding the settlement, you need to get an attorney to get the job done.
