Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
Possible adoption
My husband has a daughter that he was told was his. The bio -mother and him were never married. My husband pays $300.00 a mo. to the person raising the daughter. ( her Aunt ) who she believes in her mother. And she believe that the biomother is her aunt. My husband doesn't even know if there was a legal adoption or if the two women lied at the hospital about who they were and just traded name? How might I be able to find out this information. And would it be wise to have a paternity test done? My husband has said that a blood test wouldn't matter. she has been his for 8 years. But, the lady raising her recieves wefare help and doesn't report that she is recieving $300.00 /mo. child support from my husband and has since atleast 2000. And I believ he has no legal rights, correct? SHe doe not carry his last name either. Can I somehow, look up legal records on adoptions? For free.Or how can I handle finding this stuff out?Thank you so much,Michelle

Re: Possible adoption
Adoption records are sealed. If your husband was legally determined to be the father, he might be able to have access. You need to hire an attorney as your issues are complex.
