Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Can I attend schooling?

I am required to pay child support for my 2 children. I am seeking a better career. Would the courts ever allow me to enroll as a full time student in college? If they would, then could child support be reduced or stopped until I finished?

Re: Can I attend schooling?

Sure. You can always attend school. However, that won't be an adequate reason to lower your support.

Otherwise, every non-custodial parent would be going to school instead of paying their child support.

The court can't force you to work, but it can force you to pay the support.

If you go to school, then student loan money could be used to pay the support.

Good luck to you!
