I can't get another attorney in my city. I have asked twelve. All want thousands of dollars i don't have. i am trying to get my attorney to file an contempt of order on my ex-husband. i have asked eleven times. In person, in e-mails, and in text messsaging. Nothing file after nine months. What can I do?

Attorneys base their retainers on their estimate of the amount of time and work that will be necessary to obtain a result. Clearly, if there are 12 attorneys who all want that kind of money, and none that say less, the dollars requested must be related to the work involved. If you are income qualified you might be entitled to legal aid or a pro bono attorney. Also, if the contempt is for failure to pay child support, you can contact the loacl prosecutor's IV D office and they will seek the support for a very nominal fee.
