Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Back in 2005 I believe it was I filed for divorce, but myself or the man I am wanting to be divorced from never payed our lawyers the rest of the money we owed them so they dropped us as clients. He and his new girlfriend says they have papers that say we are divorced and when I call the courthouse and his family say we are still married. When I look online to see what the status is of the case it says D which means dismissed or disposed. So am I still married to him or are we divorced? I hired a lawyer last year or the year before to file for divorce from him and she checked to see if I was still married to him before she did anything and she said we still are, so can you please help me. I suggest that you go to the courthouse and ask to see the file. A decree of dissolution should be in the file if you are divorced.
