Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

cell phone and parental interference

I am the ncp, I would like to know if legally I have to allow my daughter to have a cell phone that belongs to her mother in my home.

The cell phone has caused nothing but problems since she has gotten it. I have a landline and two cells of my own, so she has a phone here for her use, but at least I can control the use of them.

If you do not have a copy of the parenting time guidelines, then you need to get them.

Are you required to let her have a cell telephone? No. However, that does not mean much when it comes to teenagers. You might do well to discuss the problem with custodial parent to deal with the problem.

Re: cell phone and parental interference

Interesting question. The focus shouldnt be on whether there is a cell phone or not, as much as whether telephone access is reasonable and placed at reasonable times. Look at the Parenting Time Guidelines.
