Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

certification of a question during a deposition

I work as a court reporter. A deposition was ended abruptly because of an attorney raising his voice. The attorney refused to let his client answer the question. The opposing counsel did not certify the question before ending the proceedings and has gone to the court to force the witness to answer the question. Can they force him to answer if they did not certify the question during the deposition?

Re: certification of a question during a deposition

I have not come across this situation before. However, my understanding is that the purpose of the request is to have a court reporter prepare a portion of the transcript containing the question and instruction and then to have the CR certify that the transcript is accurate. I see no reason why the attorney can not ask that the cr certify the question later.
