Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Can you change courts?

I am going through support and visitation issues. I do not agree with all of the rulings that the judge has made and am considering appealing at our next court case. Is it possible to get a new judge in a different county within the same state? The case is being handled in Anderson, IN (Madison county) and I would like to have the case moved to Indianapolis, IN (Marion county) about 45 minutes away.

You have a right to request a change of venue; however, you cannot be certain where a case will go or who the new judge will be. If neither spouse remains residing in the county where the dissolution occurred, you can have it moved to the county where the custodial parent and child reside - or where the non-custodial parent resides if the child is out of state.
