Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

name change of a minor

My daughter is 22 she had a baby 11 months ago the alleged fathers name is on my granddaughters birth certificate we just found out he's not the biological father and someone else is (DNA proved he wasn't the father) but not through the court. How do we get and the biological fathers name put on it? The biological father wants my granddaughter to have his last name? and do we need a lawyer? We live in Morgan County Indiana

Re: name change of a minor

The best way is to have the biological father established as the legal father, establish parenting time and support and the name change can be done in one proceeding. You would be best served by having a lawyer.
