Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Child out of Control

I have a 12 year old stepdaughter, who is out of control. She threatens and terrorizes the other children in the house. She even went as far as telling them she wanted to kill them and held a kitchen knife up in a suggestive manner. She fights with her Father and I both verbally and physically. Our biggest problem is her mother who has no rights to her. She has been sneaking behind our back, calling her mother on her friends cell phone on the bus. We think her mother is encouraging this behavior. Weve asked the mother not to contact her, but she still does it. We have had her put in a shelter, seek counseling, and even called the police on her. None of it works. What can we do? Can we also get a restraining or no contact order on the mother?

Re: Child out of Control

You may be able to obtain a restraining order against the mother as a post decree matter, or post paternity matter.

You should contact the counselor and see what she or he thinks you should do aregarding her behavior. It may be necessary for in patient intervention.
