Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Child Custody

I have been with my boyfriend for a couple of years. We both are from Illinois, then we moved to Indiana for less then a year. We are not working out. I want to move back to my family in Illinois. I am a good mother. Can he keep me in Indiana because of our son. I need to be with my family in Illinois, but do not want to get into trouble by going accross state line.
