Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
Child custody
On March 24,2009 my sister had a child and in the hosp. she did not take care of her, my mother did and at night she had the nurses take the baby so that she could sleep. After they was released we took my sister and the baby to her boyfriends place, but my parents and i decided to bring the baby home with us because my sisters boyfrind smoked up to 10 or more cigarettes a day. After a while my mother told my sister that the baby was better off living with us(grandparents and aunt of the baby). my sister has spent a night at our house but she never took care of the baby, hardly even looks at the child. So what i want to know is there any way my parents ( babys grandparents) could get custody of the baby? The child still lives with us, her mother has since dumped that boyfriend-who is not the babys father-and is living with another guy. CAN THE BABYS GRANDPARENTS GET CUSTODY OF HER?
