Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
Child Support
Are there any court structured guidelines for how child support is supposed to be used? As long as the child is fully taken care of, can his father dictate what his support is used for.

Re: Child Support
Child support is to be used by the custodial parent as part of his/her budget to obtain housing, utilities, food, clothing, medical care and other basic needs of the child. The non-custodial parent cannot dictate the use of the monies and the court will not absent proof that the custodial parent is not caring for the child in any manner. If the noncustodial parent pays, say $50 per week, you need not produce $50 in new clothing or new toys each week, nor give the child the $50 to spend as he sees fit. You merely need to add it into your budget to provide the home and all the comforts thereof.
