child support

My husband is paying child support for his son that just turned 18 and moved out of his mothers home. When they divorced my husband was granted custody of the children and no support was to be paid - when the boys were older they wanted to live with their mom. She asked if we could help out - so we just sent money each month. Well now he is 18, still in high school, but moved out. Can we quit paying without her coming back for more support later.

Legally if a person is paying money and not required to, he can stop without punishment. An 18 year old in high school is considered a minor for purposes of child support. But again, it does not sound like there is any order for support.

If I understand you, there is no court order requiring your husband to pay child support. If that is accurate, and the son is over 18 and moved out, there is no obligation to pay child support.
