Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

child support obligation

I was recently ordered to pay back child support in the amount of $2,000 (20.00 in arrearages weekly until paid). The child support order was set Feb 20th in the amount of 115.00 weekly. How can a judge set an arrearange amount when there was no order as to whom had custody of the child before the final hearing? He was with me half of the time and the court ruled in favor of joint custody.

Without knowing specifics, child support is based on income as well as time spent with each parent. If your income is far in excess of your ex spouse, that would explain the arrears.
