Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Child support/arearages

My ex-wife passed away. Do I still have to make support payments? The child/adult will be 23 in a month. According to the state I live in support stops at 21, but I had arearages. There was a court order to pay support and the arearages. I have been paying support for a couple of years and after my ex-wife passed away I went to the child support office in the city that she and my child live to try and find out the balance on the arearages and found out that at 21 support is supposed to end, but there had been a clerical error and no birthdate was entered into the system. Since the child turned 21 I've been paying the full amount of support ordered by the court instead of what was ordered for the arearages. Can what I've paid be used to go to the arearages?

Re: Child support/arearages

This is a bit complex for this forum and in all likelihood you need to hire an attorney to file the appropriate motions.
