Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Child Visitation

My daughter is going to turn 13 in July, as of now she is having a problem with going to Indiana to spend time with her father. I don't know what to tell her anymore because she is insisting on not wanting to go visit him anymore. Is she obligated to do so until 18 or can she petition to chose at an earlier age. She feels that it's not fair that her other 2 sisters don't have to visit when she does have to. Please advise.

Re: Child Visitation

You must abide by the court order. If there is a specific reason why your daughter doesn't want to go to Indiana, then you can try to address that issue.

If you don't think it is in her best interests to go (and the reason has to be more than she just doesn't want to because her sisters don't have to), then you would need to file a Motion with the Family Court to modify visitation.

It's difficult to answer a specific question like yours on this public board. The general answer is basically she's a child and she doesn't make the rules.

Re: Child Visitation

Simply stated, she has to go until such time that a court modifies the order. Based on the information presented, there is no basis for modification.
