Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My childs father has bearly ever paid child support. The last payment was approx. 1999 which was a IRS check which was held. I recently requested he pays child support. He is 47,000.00 behind in chilld support. His response was he didn't realize he had to pay (which im sure he said so there was no chance he would go to jail) and thought he signed off his rights. If he has to pay he wants a review done. The child is now 16. If a review is done will the courts reduce the amount of back child support he owes. After the child turns 18 will I be able to collect the back child support from the father.

Indiama law does not provide for retroactive modification further back than the date that a modification has been requested. A review would only confir mthe amount owed, not change it.

Also, child support continues to age 21 unless your child is emancipated. Yes, in answer to your last question.
