Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

claiming daughter on taxes

Me and my ex were never married and have never went to court for child support yet, My daughter lives with me and he pays no childcare or child support. Does he have the right to claim her on his taxes? If not how can I prevent him from doing so?

Re: claiming daughter on taxes

Was he determined to be the father by a court? did he sign a paternity affidavit? I suggest that you beat hom to the punch and have her or you file first, depending on your circumstances. You should contact an accountant.
