Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
College money for a child without having the custody.
I need to know the laws on parents having to pay for their childrens higher education even though they may not have custody over their child. I reside in Indiana but plan on attending a private school in Fort Lauderdale, FL. What is required of my father when it comes to even the minimal amount of money he has to pay concerning my college education? Thank You.

I am inferring from the question, that the divorce decree does not address educational benefits. Your custodial parent has to file a petition to modify the decree for educational benefits. if this has not been done, the non-custodial parent has to do nothing. Otherwise, he will need to paya portion of the expenses. What that portion is depends on both parents income and cannot just be answered. The child support guidelines set this out: http://www.in.gov/judiciary/rules/child_support/index.html
