Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
No contact for 4 years now support order issued.
4 yrs ago I had a one night stand that produced a child. The potential father was told he could be the father and I never heard anything from him again. Another man was determined not to be the father by paternity test which means the one night stand is. It's been 4 yrs and he just got served with a child support order scheduled for July 31st. My son is autistic and his man knows nothing about him. He knew where I had lived he could have contacted me (we just moved from that home last year). I do not want him to have any contact with him. The only reason he got served is because I'm on assistance and cooperated with the support division in Hancock County. I want him to sign over his rights. My son has a great ''dad'' now and it would just confuse him that he has another father, like I said, he's autistic. I do not know this guy from two ways from Tuesday and do not want him to have anything to do with him. What can I do? Can I file something for him to sign over his rights?

If you are married to the great "dad", you can have him adopted and obtain the consent of the biological dad. Doing so, will cut off his rights and obligations.
