Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My daughter's dad was granted custody of our daughter in July of 2009. He did not take physical custody of her until August of 2009. I had no phone numbers and no address in order to get in contact with them. I recieved a letter in the mail last week where he and his wife are trying to adopt her on the grounds that I have not communicated significatly with her in the past year. I did have a visitation with her in July of 2010. The paper stated that because I have not communicated with her in a years time that the court system does not have to have my consent in order to grant this. I filed a petition to contest this. Do they have a case and what do I have to do in order to stop this? They live in Indiana and I live in Kentucky.

1 Answer from Attorneys

This is your child and they are trying to take that child away from you. If you lose, you lose all rights. Hire an attorney as soon as possible. Do not delay even for a moment!!
