Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

discipline, corporal punishment

I am a 17 year old girl, and my mother has a very bad temper. When my mother gets mad she lashes out physically. For example, my sister age 15 got in an argument with my mother, and knowing that she wasnt going to win chose to walk away and keep silent. Well my mother has a pet peeve about people 'blowing her off' so she followed my sister demanding her to answer her questions. Mt sister chose not to and sat on a couch, my mother then tried to physically pick her up off of the couch by pulling of her clothes (not an easy task my sister weighs over 200 pounds) and when she couldnt do it so she went and got a wooden spoon and started to hit my sister with it. She hit her so hard that there were 'burn' marks on the skin that lasted for about a week. She has done other things like pushing the kids against a wall, hitting them multiple times wherever she can reach out of fits of anger, and slapping across the face which resulted in jaw pain that lasted for months. I have tried talking to her about it and she thinks she is doing nothing wrong. What bothers me the most is we arent doin anything wrong to deserve it. Can I do something to stop this? I'm old enough not to want physical discipline anymore, and I feel its close to being abuse
