Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

divorce timeframe

I am trying to find out if there is a statue of limitations

on when one person actually files for divorce with their attorney, and the time they are actually allowed or given to have their attorney proceed with the divorce before the initial filing is no longer good & they are reguired to have to refile. I am asking this because I heard somewhere that if one files for divorce with an attorney, that they have upto 1 year to go through with the proceedings of the divorce. If they do not do so, then the initial filing becomes void & they are then reguired to refile all over again. Is this true?

Re: divorce timeframe

There is a time limit to complete a divorce set out in the statutes. I have never seen it enforced.
