Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I was divorced in 2000. The attorney I had was absolutley worthless would not follow through on anything. I had asked a mutual friend of my x husband and I to handle my 401K court ordered distribution. He is an attorney. He agreed and did not charge me to do so. In 2006 my x husband went to this same mutual friend to draw up a modification to custody and support. In the modification we would go to joint custody and I accepted the mortgage payment of my home for lieu of support. For this it waved over 4 years back suppprt my x was behind. The papers were drawn up my x signed them then I was contacted by the attorney to come in and sign. He represented me in the divorce case so I thought he had my best interest. I found out earlier this year that was not the case. The modification do to its wording, was only successful in releasing my x from support. It was moot in me keeping my home. Isn't this a conflict of interest on the attorneys part to discuss this with my x? He represented me not him. Shouldn't he have done what was in my best interest. I am at a loss here and need help.

I suggest that you contact an attorney locally to review all of the paperwork and who can ask you questions as you proceed..
