Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Emancipation

My daughter, who is 18 yrs of age, quit high school back in Jan, 2007. I have a Withdrawal/Exit form signed by the high school officials. She neither lives with her Mother or Me. As I cannot afford an attorney, can I complete an Emancipation Form and have it recorded in my county clerk's office to stop paying child support? If so, where can I obtain that form?

Re: Emancipation

You will need to file a Petition with the court and obtan an order from a judicial officer. There may be a form at the Indiana Judiciary site.

You might want to take a look at this article on my Indiana Family Law and Divorce blog: http://haslerlaw2.blogspot.com/2007/03/emancipating-child-child-capable-of.html

The form can be found here: http://www.in.gov/judiciary/selfservice/forms/eman_term.html

Do remember that you will need to be at the hearing and present evidence.
