Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My ex-husband just served me with papers to petition to modify custody and redetermine child support. The hearing is set for this Friday. However, I can't afford a lawyer right now. Is there a way I can get this hearing postponed. Please advise how I should proceed. Thank you!

Ask the court for a continuance in order to have time to find a lawyer. You can call your husband's attorney and advise that you will be asking for a continuance as a courtesy.

You should contact the Pro Bono office in your district to see if you qualify for free legal assistance.
