Can having an exotic pet have an effect on custody?

I have a pet alligator that I keep in an aquarium. My ex is trying to use that against me in a modification of custody hearing that is coming up. Is there any way that this could efect me in court?

There is no quick reply to this type of problem. The Court's standard is to determine custody according to the best interests of the child taking various statutory factors into account. The solution will most likely turn upon which parent is best able to convince the court that the pet is or is not harmful to the child.
