Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My ex-spouse has sent a subpoena to my adult "child" to appear in a child support hearing. My child lives in another state and is undergoing daily medical treatment and does not wish to appear. Can my child simply ignore the subpoena since it would require over 500 miles of travel and require a medical hardship?

Subpoenas can not usually be enforced out of state. It would have to be a subpoena issued by the state in which the child is living.
