Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Me and my exwife are still legally married. We have two children together that have lived with me and my Current girlfriend for almost two years. I have divorce papers going through the courts that will give me sole physical custody, but joint legal custody. I have recently found out that I am going to Afghanistan for 12 months. My question is; is there any way that I can give my girlfriend a power of attorney or legal guardianship while I am over seas so that my ex cannot legally come and take the children without my or her consent?

If still legally married, she is your wife, not your ex-wife. The court would decide where the children live, not you. You have to haev a lawyer help you with this, particularly if your wife is so bad for the children that she shouldn't have their care.
