I am facing class D felony & do not know if I need to sign guardianship of my daughter over to my mother?

Neither do, I, but if you are in jail, than the other parent would typically assume custody. If that parent is not available, a guardianship may be necessary, but it would have to be filed and approved by the court, i.e. you can't just "sign it over" and have that be effective.
