Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My family and I moved to this state almost 2 years ago and I need to know how do I go abot doing a step parent adoption. A bit about us. My son is now 8 and his father hasnt seen him since he was 7 months old. We had a court order for visitation, 2 hours every 2 weeks supervised. but he has yet to do that. I have only recieved 4 support checks in the entire time. I have no address on him since he has moved from state to state. I last found him in jail in Washington state. I am worried that if something was to ever happen to me that he might get my son and not my husband , the man who has been there for my son over the last 6 years.

It sounds like you should be able to obtain an adoption with little difficulty as the father has abandoned the child. Contact a lawyer locally.
