Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
Hello,
My fiance is a divorced father. At the time of his divorce, his ex wife did not seek child support. However, my future step daughter has informed us both that once we get married she plans to take him back to court and, "Bleed [me] for every dime."
I have no idea if she can do that, legally. I am also curious if there is any way I can protect my income? Would a prenuptial agreement help in a situation like this? I certainly don't mind helping the kids out, but their mother is very difficult to deal with and spends money irresponsibly and has been out of work & not looking for a job over a year and a half now. She consistently asks him for money and he tells her no. He does, however, buy things that the kids need & take it to them. We are keeping documentation & receipts.
I would just like to be able to protect myself. I don't think it's fair if my income would equate into child support because they are not my children.
Any help would be wonderful. Thank you.

Your income will not be used at all in support calculations.
