Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana
Filing for child emancipation
My son has dropped out of high school and is 18 years old. He will soon be moving out of his mother's house. I know I have to file papers for the court to consider him emancipated, and to end my child support.
Is this a difficult procedure to do on my own? I don't have the money to retain an attorney and will have to do this myself. My ex-wife will not be of any help as she wants to continue the support for as long as possible.
Bottom line, should I retain an attorney, or is the filing process simple enough to do on my own without too many difficulties or chance of really messing things up?
Are there any resources that one could recommend to help with the filing process?

Re: Filing for child emancipation
You need an attorney as the facts that you have stated do not set forth enough for emancipation. You need to look at I.C. 31 at the Indiana Judiciary site.
