Word of mouth often works. Check withe state to confirm that there are no discipliary complaints, interview prospective attorneys by telephone. If they wont takf to you on the phone for an initial call, thats a good indication that you will ahve difficulty with them later.

Internet rankings are usually self serving. In other words, other attorneys are the ones giving the rankings.

The key is communication. You want an attorney who returns phone calls, emails promptly, etc. However, if you want every question answered be prepared to pay for the attorneys time and to pay a retainer.
