Re: finishing a divorce
If your boyfriend does not have the funds to hire another attorney and does not want to send the initial attorney a letter discharging her services, then he is at her mercy to take care of him whenever she gets around to it. He could report her to the disciplinary commission if she has been paid in full and has not completed the case, but that will not result in a decree being issued. I would suggest make an appointment, keep it and ask why the paperwork cannot now be completed. If the estranged spouse is willing to enter into an agreement and does not have an attorney, that will speed up what is left to be done. If the estranged spouse has an attorney, have her push him to get it done.
