Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I just found out that my 18 year old daughter is pregnant and has said maybe between two fathers. Do you have to put a father on birth certificate to file for child support? Can you start petition before the baby is born? I am concerned because she has little information about one of them other than name and where he works for now.

A father has to be determined as part of obtaining a support order. That father is usually not named on a birth certificate at birth, but determined later. The petition can wait until after the child is born. Refer your daughter to a Title IV-D office at your prosecutor's office for more information and help.
