What does it mean to be ''free of claim'' in a divorce decree regarding the division of automobiles? Wife is to hold husband ''free of claim, subject to lien, on her vehicle...

This means that you are being awarded the vehicle subject to paying the loan and that you are to make the payments. this language is rather antiquated. Usually, the language is something along the following: "vehicle A is awarded to the wife, she shall make all paymets thereon, and hold husband harmless on this debt."
