Full sole custody

I need to find out how I can get full sole custody of my 1 year old daughter. I want to divorce my husband(her father) due to being VERY emotionally/verbally abusive and having extensive history of drug/alcohol issues and also felony arrests. I didn't know this before being married, but have tried to stick with him and hope he would change for the better. It has only gotten worse. I fear for her safety if he is given visitation! What can I do? Please help!
