my granddaughter is in jail for nine months and she forgot to sign tempoary custody papers what is our next step without courts

If you are seeking temporary custody of her child(ren), you can't do it without the courts. Go talk to a lawyer in your community.

Jay is correct. There are complications such as insurance, etc. that can come into play. This is not a del-help situation.
