Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My ex husband is in arrears of $!9,000 of child support. He missed the 1st court date a year ago, I had another court date set up for next week. The letter sent to me states that if he found of being in contempt, he will be confined in the county jail until contempt is purged, what does that actually mean?
