Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My husband went through a very long and painful divorce process for several years over custody of his son. He eventually lost custody to his ex-wife and was ordered to pay child support. He got behind on support when he lost his job and is now suffering with a chronic illness that makes it impossible for him to work. The Judge has been very biased against him and refused to lower the amount of child support, even though he no longer has a job. The judge said that I can pay his support, which does not make sense to me. The Judge is now saying that at the next hearing, he is going to put my husband in jail for 30 days. We decided to do a paternity test on his son because we know that his ex cheated on him throughout their marriage and that there is enough possibility that he is not biologically his son. This was a last resort after being taken back to court for one ridiculous thing after another by his ex-wife. This may be the only thing that will keep him out of jail. If this test comes back and says that my husband is not the biological father, what are the options? We want to keep him out of jail. Will he have to give up rights, will he even have any rights then? Can he still see him voluntarily? We can't afford a lawyer and since the Judge wants to put him in Jail, we were appointed a public defender, who has not been much help. Please advise me of the options that we have. Thanks so much.

Your situation is far too complex for this forum. You need to hire an attorney asap or camp out on the public defenders office steps until he or she helps.
