Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I am in Indiana. I filed a "motion to show cause" alleging my ex violated a pre existing order to comply with the Indiana Parenting Time Guidelines. The court heard evidence, but denied my motion. However, the court ordered both myself and my ex to attend a parenting class. How can a court legally do this (issue a sanction) if the court did not find anyone in contempt?

The court has continuing jurisdiction over your children's affairs. If the judge decides you need to do something that relates to them, the judge can tell you to do it.
