Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Insurance ownership / estate

My husband passed away in February I know that he had life insurance because he had gone through a really nasty divorce in 1990 and his previous wife won ownership of the policy on the condition that his 2 sons remained sole beneficiarys (they are now in their 20's). This was the exact statement in the divorce decree.

At that time there was over 2200.00 cash value and he wanted to keep it himself because it would become a paid up policy after a few years and he was not in excellent health. The policy was from $50,000 to $200,000, I do not know. I do have the policy number as it was in the divorce decree but no not know what company it is with.

My sister in law spoke to his x wife and was told that that was her policy she paid the premiums and it was her money. He died in debt and had no estate. Is there anything I can do?

I am not sure what you want to do. If the ex-wife is the beneficiary, there is nothing you can do to get that money.
