Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

what are my legal rights

My husband just left me for him ex-wife one day while I was at work. I am 5 mo pregnant and I have two small children that I am trying to take care of. Both of our names are on our lease and i need to know if by law since we cannot get a divorce yet does he still have to help me pay the bills. We also only have one vehicle because when we got together he had me get rid of my car so we wouldn't have two vehicle payments and he was driving his company truck. Our vehicle is in his name only and he want's it back, what are my rights. I cannot afford the house and have to go out and get another vehicle and I am the one with the children.

thanks

shannon

It's possible that if you file for divorce and ask for temporary spousal maintenance that a court would order him to pay part of your living expenses, let you have the vehicle, etc. The court won't divorce you until after the baby is born, however.

If you have no income and no way to borrow from anyone, go to Legal Aid in your county and get a free lawyer.

Don't try to do this on your own because you have some complicated issues here.

Best of luck to you. Sounds like an awful situation.
