Indiana statues provide a means for grandparents to establish some visitation rights. This applies in the event of death of the related parent, or divorce or paternity cases where the related parent is estranged. The grandparent has to file suit, in the same court where there was a custody order, if any.

This status provides an avenue for grandparents to get court ordered visitation, but does not give any rights without that order.
